Changelog

Every OmniWebTools release: new tools, improvements and fixes, newest first.

  1. v1.3.0

    Current

Seventeen new tools for everyday jobs, from PDFs and photos that never leave your device to camera checks before a call, plus bigger versions of nine existing tools, three guides and clearer tool pages in search results.

    New

    • Webcam Test, Microphone Test and Speaker Test for checking your setup before a video call. Nothing is recorded, and the camera and microphone switch off when you stop.
    • Typing Speed Test with net and raw words per minute, accuracy and a personal best for each test length.
    • Online Timer with an alarm and Stopwatch with laps, both accurate in a background tab and both with a full-screen focus mode.
    • Spin the Wheel for picking a name or option, with an option to remove each winner.
    • A new PDF category: Merge PDF, Split PDF, Organize PDF (reorder, rotate and delete pages) and Images to PDF. Your PDFs are never uploaded.
    • Image Compressor with a target file size, and Image Converter for JPG, PNG and WebP, both working on many files at once.
    • Photo Metadata Remover shows the location, camera and date a photo carries, then removes them without touching the picture itself.
    • HEIC to JPG for iPhone photos that will not open elsewhere.
    • Signature Maker: draw a signature and download it as a transparent PNG or an SVG.
    • Markdown Viewer: open or paste a .md file and read it rendered, with Split, Read and Source views, reading time, and a heading outline in focus mode.
    • Random Picker draws several winners at once, and no entry is drawn twice.
    • Random Number has a no-repeats mode for lottery-style draws, plus sorted output.
    • Calculator understands powers (^), constants like pi and functions like sqrt(), sin() and log().
    • QR Code adds a Wi-Fi mode that phones can scan to join a network, and SVG download next to PNG.
    • Gamepad Tester checks for stick drift, with each stick's resting offset shown against a typical deadzone.
    • Random Color rolls 1, 4, 8 or 16 colors and shows them as HEX, RGB or HSL.
    • Click Speed Test adds a 60-second run, Magic 8 Ball has all 20 classic answers, and Mock Data adds street and country fields.
    • Guides on keyboard chatter, controller stick drift and GitHub-flavored Markdown.
    • This changelog, with the site version shown in the sidebar and status bar.

    Improved

    • Markdown → HTML renders tables, task lists and nested lists, and labels code blocks with their language.
    • Every tool page has its own title, heading, introduction and how-to steps, written for what people actually search for.
    • Consistent US spelling across guides, category pages and tool docs.
    • Category pages for Device Test, Time & Date, Image and Random & Fun describe their new tools.
    • The Privacy Policy now covers the camera, microphone and file tools: what they can access, and that none of it leaves your device.

    Fixed

    • Links using javascript: and similar schemes in Markdown are disabled, and raw HTML is shown as text.
    • Calculator no longer runs your input as code; it uses a small math parser instead.
    • Calculator history rounds results the same way the main answer does.
    • Guide dates now show when each guide was actually published.
    • Search engines can load the site's stylesheets and scripts, so pages are judged as visitors see them.
  2. v1.2.0

Anonymous usage statistics, and a Privacy Policy that says exactly what they contain.

    New

    • Anonymous, cookieless usage statistics: which pages are opened and which tools get used, never what you type into them. The local development build sends nothing.

    Improved

    • The Privacy Policy describes the one outside service the site talks to and what it can and cannot see.
  3. v1.1.1

A copy pass across the whole site.

    Improved

    • Rewrote punctuation across tool docs, guides and pages for easier reading.
    • The status bar now sits inside the content column instead of spanning the sidebar.
  4. v1.1.0

A rebuilt Gradient Maker, three new tools and three new guides.

    New

    Improved

    • Gradient Maker rebuilt: linear, radial, conic and mesh gradients, OKLCH interpolation, easing, importing an existing gradient, a text contrast check, and export to CSS, Tailwind, SVG, SwiftUI, Flutter or PNG.
    • JSON Formatter output can be edited in place.
    • A new, consistent icon set across the site.
  5. v1.0.0

    OmniWebTools launches.

    New

    • 88 developer and designer tools that run entirely in your browser, across 11 categories.
    • Ten guides, from Base64 and JWTs to cron syntax and CIDR notation.
    • Shareable links that reopen a tool with your input, history per tool, and chaining one tool's output into another.
    • Light and dark themes that follow your device, a command palette, favorites and focus mode.
